   J’ai lu récemment dans la biographie de Satyajit Ray un curieux épisode, au cours duquel il est tombé sur M.S. à Londres dans des circonstances étonnantes :
   «In October Ray went to London expecting to meet Sellers again, James Coburn (as a possible Devlin) and
   Columbia UK, who had taken over the project. Wilson had already been there a week and had fixed himself a suite at the Hilton Hotel, with a separate one for Ray. On the one evening Ray ventured to Wilson’s suite,
   ‘the scene that met my eye through the pall of [pot] smoke could have been a set piece out of Petronius. The carpet was strewn with bodies, male and female, and Subbulakshmi [the south Indian vocalist] sang above the
   whirr of a movie projector and the Bengali dialogue of what turned out to be a 16mm print of my own film Devi, flickering fitfully on a bare wall of the room, a son et lumière to end all son et lumières.’»

   Je ne suis pas sûr de bien comprendre si Subbulakshmi est présente en chair et en os ou si c’est seulement sa voix qui est censée couvrir le bourdonnement du projecteur.
